Shirani M. Pathak teaches you how to have amazing relationships by doing one simple thing: dismantling supremacy’s internalized oppression and conditioning. Though it’s simple, it may not be easy. Tune in to learn how perfectionism, imposter syndrome, judgement, criticism, comparison (aka comparisonitis), fear of failure, inadequacy and the “not enoughs” hold you back from the amazing relationships you desire. In this podcast I‘m illuminating how what you‘re feeling is a result of what we’ve been programmed to believe living under supremacy culture’s systems of oppression, and offer solutions to help you heal from supremacy‘s sneaky conditioning. I cover topics of racism, relationships, emotional intelligence, relational intelligence, neuroscience, the nervous system, intergenerational trauma, epigenetics, spirituality, authentic leadership, alcoholism, addiction, abuse, violence and so much more. S3E7 The Truth About Self-Sabotage
Thursday Nov 04, 2021
Thursday Nov 04, 2021
In today’s episode, Shirani expands on the topic of how supremacy culture shows up in our everyday life by talking about self sabotage.
There’s a misconception that if you just don't listen to that self sabotaging voice, you'll be able to just push through and do whatever needs to be done. Just. Push. Through. But that’s exactly what supremacy culture wants us to do; to force, to push against, to oppress. Because self sabotage isn't actually sabotage; what most people call self sabotage is actually self preservation.
In today’s episode, we cover:
- Supremacy culture's lies about self sabotage
- Going down the rabbit hole of self sabotage
- How to break the loop of self sabotage
- Compassionate curiosity: create an alliance not divisiveness.
Quotes
[00:08:51] Self sabotage isn't actually sabotage. That's just one of the lies that has sprung forth from the well of supremacy culture’s lies in order to keep beating up on yourself. Because if supremacy culture is not beating up on you, and your parents aren't beating up on you or your boss isn't beating up on you, well somebody has to beat up on you and that somebody is going to be you.
[00:17:07] If there is a part of you that has been conditioned to believe, whether that be personally, ancestrally, intergenerationally or collectively, if there is a part of you that has been conditioned to believe that is unsafe for you to be seen in this position of power, or for you to even have a position of quote unquote power, then of course, your protector parts are going to kick up, sound the alarm bells and activate self preservation, because it just wants to keep you safe.
