You're here to build our new world. But you’ve realized that the very systems you're here to dismantle are the same ones sabotaging your internal clarity, your organizational power, and your nervous system.
If that's you, then welcome to Liberatory Strategy.
This is the podcast for revolutionary leaders, founders, and visionaries who know that internal liberation is the path of creating a new legacy. We move past the diagnosis of systemic harm and into the active work of creating what comes next.
Hosted by Shirani M. Pathak, a Liberatory Strategist with over 20 years of therapeutic experience, this podcast explores the intersection of nervous system sovereignty, systemic de-programming, and bold strategic implementation.
We don’t just talk about change; we clear the path so you can finally walk in alignment with your Sacred Assignment deeply rooted in yourself.
Tune in to learn how to:
-
Identify and dissolve the supremacy culture programming that leads to visionary collapse.
-
Reclaim your sovereign power as the foundation for your leadership.
-
Move past survival mode and into creating the legacy that's yours to create.
The burning away of the old world is done. It’s time to build the new.

Today on the podcast I'll be answering the question: Why is everyone so angry?
The answer is simple: America is experiencing collective grief over the centuries of unhealed and unprocessed atrocities, especially against Black and Brown bodies.
Tune in today to learn more and shift your perspective the next time you come across someone who is angry.
If you or someone you know is a person of color (or loves a person of color) and would like healing and support right now, please visit www.CenterforSoulfulRelationships.com to learn more.

Today rather than sharing new information with you, I want to invite you instead to take time to rest and reflect.
We've covered some big topics in the podcast so far, and now it's time to digest.
In today's episode I do a recap of where we've been and ask you some questions to turn within as part of the learning, healing, unlearning, and growing process.

Today on the podcast we have our very first special guest, Dr. B. Nilaja Green. Dr. Green writes, speaks and engages at the intersections of individual psychological distress and collective socio-cultural oppression as an Atlanta based licensed clinical psychologist.
Dr. Green is certified in trauma informed care and delivering specialized trauma treatments to vulnerable populations, such as military veterans, black women and members of the LGBTQ community. She writes, leads, workshops, and trainings, asking clinicians to cultivate their own introspective practice and to approach care of clients with greater cultural humility.
You can learn more about Dr. Green at www.standpointtherapyandconsulting.org and follow her on Instagram @DrBNilaja (https://www.instagram.com/drbnilaja/).
This conversation ended up longer than we planned on, and there was no stopping us. The content shared is amazing!
Some highlights of the conversation include:
-What is Juneteenth and what does it mean to Dr. Green (6:11)
-How racism is NOT a pandemic or a mental illness (10:47)
-Slaves as property, not people (14:34)
-How intergenerational trauma lives in our DNA, and how ALL people carry it, not just Black, Indigenous, or People of Color--white people carry it, too! (17:28)
-How trauma shows up in our body, including my own personal experiences during COVID quarantine and the Black Lives Matter movement of 2020 (27:33)
-Oppressor as oppressed and how learning to be white disconnects white people from the most important aspect we share: our humanity (34:35)
-What affinity groups are and why they matter (40:16)
-Racism isn't Black and Brown people's problem to solve--it's white people's problem to solve (44:14)
-Why quick solutions won't work, and we have to do this work internally first (47:16)
-What about biracial or multiracial individuals? How do they do their healing work? (51:36)
-Remember to stay connected with compassion and how self-judgment won't help (55:19)

Following the release of our episode, Dr. Green would like to add the following update:
"Thank you for speaking into existence that I will be invited by the Mayor of Atlanta, but I was actually invited by the Mayor of East Point - Mayor Holiday-Ingraham, who is a phenomenal woman committed to the values of inclusion and equity in our city of East Point, (a city in Atlanta - it's weird here, we have the mayor of the city and then other mayors as well, go figure) to celebrate Juneteenth. I am also trying not to beat myself up for saying "this guy" instead of Rayshard Brooks (I blame it on a Saturday brain and trying to protect myself from the news), sigh. We must honor the fallen by remembering their names. (It's the least we can do :) )"

In today's episode we're diving into what your nervous system does, and why it is incredibly important to have practices right now to regulate it.
Spoiler alert: It's because without tools to regulate your nervous system, you will end up with a fried nervous system, and will be either super anxious, or, stuck in a state of freeze (you know, that numb out, scroll the social media feed type freeze).

You have to feel it to heal it, and tears are just frozen feelings thawing out. Your love note this week is to allow the tears fall. Feel all of your feelings, the anger, the sadness, the grief, and let your tears fall. That's the only way to unfreeze yourself so that the healing can begin.

Why do you feel tense, on edge, and kind of like a hot mess right now in the midst of the global coronavirus pandemic AND in the wake of George Floyd? Because of collective trauma. In this episode you will learn what collective trauma is, where it lives, and why it's being activated right now. I'll also introduce you to the work of Resmaa Menakem, author of the book My Grandmother's Hands. You can learn about Resmaa, his book, and his free class over at https://www.resmaa.com

Welcome to your first love note: The permission to mess it up.
If you need a quick reminder that you're going to mess it up when you start having the difficult conversations, and the permission to mess it up and do it anyway, then this love note is for you.
In times like now, the worst thing we can do is say nothing because we are in fear. We need to give ourselves permission to mess it up, and do our own anti-racism work.
Listen. Read. Learn. And then, speak up.
There are many black bodied individuals who are out there, sharing stories, educating people, that you can learn from.
Oh, and you can also start at home: by asking your black friends and colleagues how they are doing, and then truly taking the time to genuinely listen.
This isn't the time for us to do nothing. This is the time to listen, learn, and speak up.
Here's your permission to do it imperfectly.
If someone you know could benefit from today's short message, please share this episode with them. Also, if you're enjoying what you're hearing, be sure to subscribe, rate and review the podcast. That's how others can learn about it.
